Who am I?
I’m a creative soul that was born in middle Georgia and had aspiring dreams to live in a metropolis far, far away…New York City.
Growing up in the south taught me how to appreciate the small things (like fishing in the backyard with my granny), while simultaneously building the personal strength necessary for pivotal life changes. The City continues to teach me how to dance through life authentically and embrace the unknown around every corner. I am southern born, but city grown.
My first two loves in life were writing and music.
I started writing poetry around the age of 9 to process emotions I felt like I couldn’t talk about with anyone. As long as I had a pencil and paper, I could escape into a fantasy world that was all mine. When I finally decided to let other people experience that world, I started winning awards for it—first place in more than 5 writing competitions (state and regional) and a couple published poems here and there. So, I pursued writing as a career.
If writing is my lifeline, music is my soul enricher. Listening to a great track has always puts a smile on my face and a pep in my step. At 10, I joined my school band as a trumpet player to put my love into practice. I went on to become first chair for 8 years, was chosen for honor band each year, composed a score from scratch, and was the youngest person selected in my school’s history as a section leader for marching band. Music gives me drive.
If you made it this far down, you must be interested in more about me. Ask away! I’m an open book and would love to share more about myself.
